so you go on vacation, and look what happens!

Oh my. We started heading for cold weather in NC last week, so I needed a new hat, a new scarf, and my Aunt brought so many things to me (Wilbur buds, a wonderful brooch that was my Nana’s, yummy Lancaster county pretzels…) that I felt she needed a scarf. Here’s everything:

This was made with Lion Brand Autumn Trails. I used maybe 3 balls. Pattern was just a front/back loop sc rectangle that was gathered at the top. There’s a little bit o’ long fringe too.

I made this neutral scarf on the drive up to NC (I wasn’t driving at the time!) Made with Lion Brand Chenille Mocha and Patons Divine Soft Earth in sc.

This was the scarf for my Aunt. It is just hdc with Patons Allure yarn in Mink, Sapphire, Sable, Turquoise, and Amethyst.

I’ve found a nice way to skein my yarn, and this is it. I space my ladder-back chairs about 1.5 yard apart and wind away!

the first yarn

Well, I got the urge to spin last night about 11pm. I don’t know why…it just seemed like a cozy thing to do! I finally got to a point that I decided to break the yarn and make a ball. It’s just under 2 oz. and about 15 yards. It is spun on my Louet drop spindle from Australian merino roving, not dyed.

edit on Oct. 29:
The yarn got dunked in cherry and grape kool-aid! Yuck! I might need to over-dye this one. My son and I had fun trying it out though…

pillow talk

What to do with all that leftover Lion Brand Homespun (Praire)? A pillow, of course! Here she is:

Yeah, yeah, how did I do it? I really am not fond of patterns (yet…maybe I’ll get better, and then they won’t seem so daunting). But I am into relief stitches lately! I was inspired by MaryMac’s blanket, and I just used that pattern for the center (although I did 3 fpdc in a row, not 4, to square it up a bit). I then dc’d around the center part of the pillow until it fit my form that I had. The back is all dc to fit the front. I finished it by slip stitching the whole thing together and adding tassels. ta-da! Thanks MaryMac!
