Didn’t post when I made this–the mama reads this blog! but I made the “Baby it’s cold outside” sweater from Crochet Me. I used Homespun in Covered Bridge Red and Boston Rose. Yum! And so sweet! I even threw it in the washing machine (in a mesh bag) and the dryer. Gotta be easy for the mama!

I have another friend who is having a girl too. Another opportunity to make this fun sweater again! This one is in Boston Rose and Black.

Well, this is a little better. Hand spun 100% merino wool dyed with Cushing dyes in terra cotta (40 yards) and seal brown (19 yards). The brown is my first attempt to ply. I thought the ply yarn was wool, but it didn’t take the dye like the rest of the yarn. Hmmmm…..

Well, finally! It seemed to take forever with all that back loop sc. Here it is:

Front

Back
The yarn details are here. No pattern. Just a long rectangle with a half twist.

Here’s what I am currently working on. The idea was inspired by those 40s silver foxtail wraps all of Hollywood was wearing to premieres at the time. I wanted something that would simply be like a knit capelet/Paris Loop wrap. I want to add a mobius twist to the front before joining. There will also be 3 vertical rows of bobbles down the back, simulating rows of buttons. The yarn is Knit Picks Elegance (70% baby alpaca/30% silk) in Ash held together with J.&P. Coats silver metallic thread, size #10.

Years ago I had a boyfriend whose grandmother was sure we were going to be married. She made me, oh, half a dozen crocheted snowflakes for my “hope chest,” as she said. Well, boyfriend and I broke up, but there was no way I was giving up those wonderful ornaments. I hang them every year with fond memories. Well, now I can crochet, so I thought I would make some more for myself and to give away. Aren’t they sweet?

Patterns came from online–free. Just #10 thread with a size 7 steel hook.
